El Remate is a little laid back village at the lake, located in between Flores and Tikal.

It`s a good place to taste Guatemalan local life, have a good swim in the crystal clear lake, sunbath on one of the docks, rent a canoo, do a horseback tour, rent mountainbikes or visit the ecological park Cerro Cahui. Besides El Remate is known for its wood carving artesania.

This park is located at 5 minutes walking distance from the main village. One can climb up the mountain through the little protected jungle and enjoy a view over the lake!

To go to El Remate you have to take a bus from the new busterminal in Santa Elena (Flores).You have to ask for the minibuses leaving to El Melchor de Mencos and ask the busdriver to drop you off on the way! The buses leave every 15 minutes and cost between Q 10 and Q 20. (depends on the driver) The last bus leaves from Santa Elena at 17:30. Keep in mind: There is no bank in El Remate!
