Arcas is a rescue center that rehabilitates and cares for confiscated animals on the black market. Arcas is located near Flores (a 10 minutes boatride).

If you want to volunteer at Arcas you can request them to pick you up by boat (phonenumbers and adress are on their page www.arcasguatemala.com)

Volunteers have to pay $ 100 per week. Food, drinks, accomodation and transportation are included.

It is also possible to visit Arcas for a day. Visitors however are only allowed in the visitors center and can`t come near animals in quarantaine because they are supposed to be released in the future.

To visit you can take a boat from the back of Flores where boats go to San Miguel. The boat drivers charge Q 80 for a round trip to Arcas. (has to be divided by the amount of people on the boat) Besides you have to pay an Q 20 entrance fee to the shelter.
