The easiest and safest way to go to Antigua is by taking a direct nightbus. This bus leaves daily at 23.00 (check in is at 22.30) and costs Q 190. Tickets are available at our hostel.

Travel time:
9 hours

First you travel with a first class nightbus to Guatemala City. You arrive at the office of the company Rapidos del Sur at 6.00 am. Here a minibus will be waiting right next to your bus to bring you to Antigua, where you will arrive at 7.00 am the next morning.

IMPORTANT:
The mayor of Flores doesn`t allow any tourist buses on the island. That`s why you have to take this nightbus at the office of Rapidos del Sur at the new busterminal in Santa Elena. (to get there you cross the bridge from Flores and keep walking strait ahead to the end of the street. It is a 15 to 20 minutes walk. At this time it is however not recommended to walk in Santa Elena and tuc tuc aren`t riding either. You can ask our neighbour Rene to bring you there. He is a reliable taxi driver.

Option 2:
Going by yourself to Antigua

The second option to travel to Antigua is by taking a public first or second class bus to Guatemala City. (see the chapter on buses from Flores to Guatemala City on the previous page)

From Guatemala City you can take a taxi to the public bus stop where chickenbuses to Antigua leave every 10 minutes. A taxi to this busstop should charge you Q 30. The Chicken bus from Guatemala City to Antigua takes a little longer as an hour and costs Q 7.00

IMPORTANT: Guatemala city is not the safest place on this planet. If you don`t know the place it is not recommendable to walk around there with a big backpack!
